We finally took Ella to see her first movie in the theatre, and it didn't go exactly as planned. We decided a few months ago that we would bring her to see Despicable Me 2 because she loves the first one so much. When we first mentioned we were going to see a movie, she was pretty excited.
There were a few things that we didn't think about, though:
1. The size the chairs in proportion to Ella's body: The seat of the chair wouldn't stay down (even with the booster seat), so she ended up sitting on one of our laps for the entire movie (mostly mine).
2. The volume of a regular movie: Considering Ella thinks the vacuum cleaner is too loud when she is two rooms away, we should have thought a bit more carefully about the noise level in a movie theatre...especially for an 'action' movie. She was SO not impressed and kept her hands over her ears for a good portion of the movie. Next time, it's stars and strollers for this little girl!
3. The Internet schedule could possibly be WRONG: the Internet said the 2D version of Despicable Me 2 started at 2:15pm and the 3D version started at 4:20pm. WRONG. We got there to see the 2:15pm show only to find out that the 3D version started at 2:10pm and the 2D version didn't start until 4:20pm. Good times. Ella sat very briefly with the glasses on, but she didn't last for more than 1/4 of the movie. Luckily 3D movies are a little easier on the eyes than they were 20 years ago (IE. it wasn't too bad watching it without the glasses).
In any case, she got a bag of popcorn out of the deal which she and Adam finished in record time (like before the movie even started).
On a brighter note, she got to visit to her favourite mall dog and give him a pet...and a quarter. I think she also enjoyed having all our attention for a few hours.
What did Harrison get up to while we were out and about? Oh the usual, just cutting the neighbour's lawn!
Thanks for reading :D
